Platform and level crossing Bielstein
Platform and level crossing Bielstein
A direct link for pedestrians between the city of Bielstein and the supermarket on the other side of the railway track had been eagerly desired by many citizens of Bielstein and so an uncontrolled level crossing was createrd by the pedestrians. To end this and to reduce the risk of injuries while crossing the track the city of Wiehl constructed a pedestrian level crossing on their own expense. In parallel our platform was extended by 110 metres, as otherwise the trains would have had to stop in the middle of this crossing. The city of Wiehl bears the expenses of roughly 70.000€ for the nearly completed task.
This can be seen as an exercise for the construction of the big level crossing in Wiehl. The planning is already done and currently the authorities are working on the required approvals.
